Students will have the opportunity to discuss the food pyramidand various dairy items. If students are struggling to see there are further hints about the dairy items. Time: 10-12 minutes

Essential Nutrients for Health

Iodine: Supports growth and brain function.

Daily Servings: Ages 9-18 need 5 servings of milk, yogurt, or cheese daily (others need 3). A serving is 200ml milk, 125g yogurt, or 25g cheese. Choose reduced-fat options.

B Vitamins: B2, B5, B12: Help release energy from food and reduce fatigue.B2 (Riboflavin): Important for skin and eye health.B12: Supports the immune system.

Why It’s Important: Dairy provides calcium, protein, iodine, and B vitamins, which support bones, muscles, brain function, energy levels, and the immune system.
