Introduzione

La civiltà micenea si sviluppò tra il 1600 e il 1100 a.C. nell'attuale Grecia continentale, durante la tarda età del bronzo lasciando un'importante eredità nella cultura ellenica.

Chi erano i Micenei?

I Micenei erano un popolo indoeuropeo che dominò la Grecia dopo la civiltà minoica. La loro cultura si basava su una società aristocratica e militare.

Quando e dove si sviluppò? La civiltà micenea si sviluppò tra il 1600 e il 1100 a.C. I principali centri furono Micene, Tirinto, Pilo e Tebe.

Le città erano fortificate e dominate da un palazzo reale. Micene è famosa per la Porta dei Leoni e le tombe a tholos.

Economia e società

L'economia si basava su agricoltura, commercio e artigianato. La società era gerarchica con il wanax (re) al vertice.

I Micenei adoravano divinità che influenzarono il pantheon greco.

Utilizzavano la scrittura Lineare B per la contabilità e l'amministrazione.

Il declino avvenne intorno al 1100 a.C. Possibili cause: invasioni doriche, crisi interna e cambiamenti climatici.
