Labor Process

Beginning to placenta passing

There are 3 stages to labor.1) Begins when labor starts (water breaks, contractions start), and ends when the cervix is fully dialated (10 inches). 2)Begins after cervix is fully dialated and ends when the baby has been delivered. 3)Begins after the delivery of the baby and ends when the placenta is delivered.

  • A placenta is an organ that forms in the womb, also called the uterus.
  • Cervix need to be dialated to 10 inches before the baby is delivered.
  • Labor for a first time mom typically lasts 12-24 hours, and for a second time mom it's around 8-10 hours

Trimester 1

Conseption to 12 weeks

Conseption is the process when a sperm from a male, fertilizes an egg from a female, It marks the beginning of a pregnancy. Implantation is the process that occurs after conception, when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the lining of the uterus. This usually happens 6 to 10 days after consception.

Symptoms of Implantation

  • Bloating
  • Spotting
  • Tender breasts
  • Cramping

Symptoms of Conception

  • Feeling tired
  • Mood swings
  • Headaches
  • Frequent urination
