Types of Interactive Assessment

Interactive assessments can be conducted synchronously or asynchronously, offering various methods to evaluate student learning. The following slides will present examples, but there are numerous other ways to create your own interactive experiences.

Online Quizzes
Essay Questions
Drag and Drop
Image Pairing

Online Quizzes

Quizzes, a traditional assessment tool, become highly engaging when paired with technology. They can include multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blanks, and hotspots, and are short and easy to assess. Randomizing question order and options makes each quiz unique. These quizzes can be embedded as knowledge checks within modules or as final graded tests.

Above is an example of a Quiz set created in H5P and stored in LibreStudio.

Essay Questions

Open-ended or essay-type questions are popular qualitative assessments that prompt students to explore their thoughts and test comprehension, encouraging critical thinking and higher-level learning. These questions require more time for students to think, organize, and compose their answers.

This example was created in Genially.

Drag and Drop

Drag-and-drop assessments demonstrate a student's ability to link information and apply knowledge to solve practical problems, incorporating images and text for a real-world, engaging challenge.

Here is an example a drag and drop activity created with H5P stored in LibreStudio.

Image Pairing

Image pairing in interactive assessments involves matching images with corresponding text or other images, helping students link concepts visually and enhance their understanding through engaging, real-world scenarios.

Above is an example of Image Pairing from H5P.org.
