Surface Water 101:
- Any body of water found above ground on Earth
- Includes rivers, lakes, oceans, ponds, wetlands, human-made reservoirs
- Can be temporary or permanent
- About 80% of water used comes from surface water
Ground Water 101:
- Found in cracks and spaces between soil particles and rocks
- Can be found in large amounts that pool
- Exists where soil is saturated next to or under a body of water
- Myth: Aquifers are big pockets of water under bedrock
