Let's go!

By Lucy Ireland and Sarah Tobia

  • Subway is a sandwich shop, you can even create your own sandwich.
  • They sell different types of bread, you can choose between a 6 inch and a footlong.
  • The company aim to provide health food options.
  • People that want to buy a sandwich made freshly made quickly.

What is Subway

  • Specific- To make it more quick
  • Measurable- How quickly Subway can make the sandwich.
  • Achievable- Subway would be able to analyse how the time period is between making the sandwich and then serving it to the customer.
  • Relevant- Introducing a self scan in order for the workers to focus more on sandwiches
  • Time Based- Quick turn around for customers

Smart goals related to this

  • AI will be used in order to analyse purchasing patterns in order to reccomend popular sandwich choices. The AI that is used is machine learning and deep learning.
  • Social media will be used in order to promote that they have self scans.

What technologies and platforms will be used

  • Subways competitors are Greggs and Baynes.
  • Greggs and Baynes do not have a self scan.
  • When Subway introduce a self-scan they will gain competitive advantage over them.

Competitive advantage

  • Some people prefer face-to-face interactions instead of a machine.
  • It takes away the face-to-face interactions.
  • Technical issues might arise
  • Subway being too reliant on technology

Challenges and Risks

  • In the UK, 66% of people prefer self scans which is beneficial to Subway.
  • Increased revenue as people will actually have a good look at the menu because Subway is a quick service so you do not have time to look at the menu.
  • They will stand out from their competitors.
