What is shoulder surfing?
Shoulder surfing is the act of physically looking at sensitive information being input.
This is often used to steal pin codes, usernames, passwords etc
This often requires the attacker to be nearby the person they are trying to steal from however cameras could be used if has a view of the screen.
How to prevent shoulder surfing
There are some very simple solutions to prevent this becoming a problem:
- Physically cover what you are typing in public
- Only input personal data in private and secure locations
- use password managers so you can avoid typing them
