What does International Women’s Day mean to you? For me, International Women's Day recognises the strength, resilience, and determination of women everywhere. It reminds us of every woman's potential and honours those who have paved the way for future generations. It's also a time to celebrate the women who've supported and shaped me—family, friends, colleagues, and mentors. My mother, in particular, has deeply influenced me: a multi-tasker, problem-solver, and inspiring leader in her own right.

What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? Driving gender equality and taking bold career action requires confidence, determination, and strategy. Trust your abilities, seek mentors who guide and encourage you, and embrace continuous learning, including setbacks, as opportunities for growth. Prioritising balance between work and personal life is crucial for sustained success and fulfilment.

ANDREA AGUILA - SALES OPERATIONS manager

What does International Women’s Day mean to you? IWD is a chance to celebrate women in business and a chance to highlight the journey women have gone through in their personal and professional lives. Why is gender equality urgent for workplaces today? Gender equality and parity is important as everyone, regardless of gender or race deserves to be treated as equals. It is important for society as a whole to grow and prosper, that treat others as we would want to be treated ourselves. What’s a career challenge you've faced as a woman, and how did you overcome it? I am lucky to have always been treated with respect in my career. Always being judged on my merit not gender.

How have you acted (or plan to act) to create a more inclusive workplace? Understand and educate myself on other cultures and embrace the differences. With understanding comes harmony. What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? My only advice is to listen and take the time to get to know all those around you and always treat everyone with kindness and respect. If you see something that you believe is wrong, then speak up and don't become a passive bystander.

ASH HUCKER - MARKETING CAMPAIGN MANAGER

What does International Women’s Day mean to you? International Women’s Day honours women who've paved the way and those still driving change. It’s about celebrating achievements, uplifting each other, and working towards a world where gender doesn't dictate one's value, safety, or success. These values should guide us every day—not just on March 8. Why is gender equality urgent for workplaces today? Gender equality at work isn't just right, it's essential. Workplaces thrive when everyone gets a fair chance, yet women still face pay gaps, biases, and leadership barriers. Diverse teams drive smarter decisions, spark innovation, and foster stronger, inclusive cultures. Companies serious about attracting and retaining top talent must step up.

What’s a career challenge you've faced as a woman, and how did you overcome it? A key challenge was being overlooked in male-dominated spaces. Constantly proving myself was exhausting. I overcame this by speaking confidently, finding supportive mentors, and ensuring my work spoke for itself. How have you acted (or plan to act) to create a more inclusive workplace? It's about everyday actions—making space for others, ensuring everyone feels valued, and actively supporting each other. I'm committed to creating workplaces where everyone can thrive. What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? Speak up, even if it's uncomfortable—your voice has power. Don’t wait for permission; step forward confidently, find mentors who support your growth, and uplift others along the way. Challenge bias wherever you see it and advocate for real change—equal pay, fair policies, and genuine representation. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Women are like teabags—you don’t know how strong they are until you put them in hot water.”

CINDI STANISLAS - SENIOR SECURITY SALES EXECUTIVE

What does International Women’s Day mean to you? International Women's Day is a chance to celebrate women's contributions, particularly in male-dominated fields. This day is a valuable reminder to recognise women's achievements and their broader impact on the workplace and society. Why is gender equality urgent for workplaces today? Achieving gender equality is urgent because many young women still overlook industries like IT. Recently at The Missing Link, we had no female applicants for sales roles, highlighting the persistent perception of certain fields as male-dominated, particularly in Australia. Actively addressing gender equality now will encourage future generations to view all industries, including IT, as accessible career choices.

What’s a career challenge you've faced as a woman, and how did you overcome it? When I began my IT career, I worried I'd be seen as a 'diversity hire.' I was determined not to be judged solely by my gender. By working hard, consistently proving my competence, and achieving my goals, I showed that my success was based on ability and effort, not gender. What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? My advice is simple: careers have no gender. Pursue your passions without being limited by outdated expectations. For example, my daughter dreams of becoming a builder—a field traditionally dominated by men—and I’ve always encouraged her to follow that passion. There are no limits; women can achieve anything they set their minds to.

CHRISTIE HOLLIS - EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?Empowering our women to grow together and share their stories. Women are incredibly powerful and strong humans who can accomplish so much and it's a great chance to celebrate those accomplishments. Strong women support other strong women! Why is gender equality urgent for workplaces today? Women significantly contribute to the workforce and society at large. Without fair pay and recognition, we undermine their potential. Diverse voices across race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality are essential for collective growth. Paying unequal wages for equal work is unjust and restricts women's opportunities. Fairness is critical to realising their full potential. What’s a career challenge you've faced as a woman, and how did you overcome it? Throughout my career, I've often faced being spoken over, unacknowledged, or challenged simply because I'm a woman. At times, finding workplace allies and a strong female mentor has made a difference. Sometimes I’ve felt pressured to stay quiet, though this shouldn't happen. The most empowering approach, however, is openly addressing and calling out this behaviour when it occurs.

How have you acted (or plan to act) to create a more inclusive workplace? It's an ongoing challenge, but I strive to ensure everyone feels heard and included, regardless of their role or title. I genuinely believe each person has valuable insights and should feel comfortable sharing their opinions and ideas. While hiring the right talent is essential, it's equally important to build diverse teams that bring varied perspectives and drive richer outcomes. What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? Do it! Take the leap, say what you need to say, don't back down, stand strong for yourself and other women. Don't let the fear stop you from being the best version of yourself and creating change. The stronger we are together the more of a difference we can make in this world. We are fierce and deserve to take up space!

ANONYMOUS - PROJECT COORDINATOR

What does International Women’s Day mean to you? International Women’s Day is about recognition, empowerment, and encouragement—celebrating women's achievements worldwide and acknowledging ongoing challenges. It highlights our progress and reminds us of the work still needed for true equality. Why is gender equality urgent for workplaces today? Gender equality goes beyond fairness—it creates workplaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. Diverse and inclusive environments motivate people, drive innovation, and help businesses succeed. When everyone gets a fair chance, we all win. What’s a career challenge you've faced as a woman, and how did you overcome it? Not being taken seriously was a significant challenge—I often felt I had to work twice as hard to prove myself. Balancing work and family added extra pressure, but staying confident, speaking up, and seeking support from mentors helped me persevere.

How have you acted (or plan to act) to create a more inclusive workplace? I actively attend social events, engage with various teams, and maintain a presence in the office. Connecting, understanding diverse perspectives, and fostering open dialogue creates an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone. What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? Taking that first step is hard—I get it. But trust me, there’s so much to gain and nothing to lose. You become independent, financially strong, and find your own voice. Yes, it takes effort, but once you do it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner. Go for it!

tayha young - Service experience engineer

What does International Women’s Day mean to you? International Women's Day is an opportunity to recognise and connect with women in my field who have navigated experiences similar to my own. It's a chance to openly engage, learn from each other, and share insights on thriving within our industry. Why is gender equality urgent for workplaces today? Achieving gender equality in workplaces is essential. It brings diverse perspectives, boosts innovation, and improves decision-making. Gender-diverse teams better understand and serve a wide range of customers, leading to better performance and higher overall client satisfaction. What’s a career challenge you've faced as a woman, and how did you overcome it? A challenge I've faced is customers doubting my expertise simply because I'm a woman, often requesting a male technician. I overcame this by continually enhancing my skills and confidently asserting my role whenever someone asked to speak with a technician. Clearly demonstrating my capability allowed me to break down biases, build trust, and earn respect from customers.

How have you acted (or plan to act) to create a more inclusive workplace? Where possible I mentor new team members from various backgrounds, helping them integrate smoothly and feel valued. By fostering an inclusive culture where everyone's contributions are recognised and respected, we create a supportive environment that benefits the entire team. What advice would you give women aiming to boldly drive gender equality in their careers? For women aiming to take bold action and drive gender equality in their careers, confidence is key. Trust in your abilities and showcase your skills. Seek mentors for guidance and support, and actively build a strong professional network. Lead by example, demonstrating that leadership knows no gender.
