Analogous Colors

These are three (3) colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. You may see them being variations of one color but also for example you may see two versions of one color next to another. Such as: Yellow - yellow orange - orange

The color wheel has all the colors of the rainbow. From here we can begin to understand how colors work together to blend, stand out and create the world around us!

Split complementary colors

These colors are two colors on either side of one colors complementary color. Examples: Red - Blue Green - Green Yellow

Tetradic colors

Tetradic colors are two sets of complimentary colors. A total of 4 colors. They are evenly spaced throughout the colorwheel! Examples: Red - Green - Blue - Orange

Complmentary colors

Complementary colors are two colors that are on the opposite side of one another on the color wheel. Such as: Red - Green Yellow - Purple Blue - Orange

Notice that a primary color compliments a secondary color and visvirsa. You see these colors work together more often than you think!

Triadic colors

These colors are evenly spaced out on the color wheel. Creating a triangle across the wheel. Hence the word "tri." Examples: Red - Blue - Yellow Orange - Green _ Purple
