GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION

Spain is part of Iberian Peninsula. The country is located in southern Europe, below France. It has unique cultures that have been influenced by the Moorish rule, which is evident in their architecture and cuisine. There are 48.37 million inhabitants. The area of the country is 195379.27529 quares miles and Spain has 17 regions. The Spanish language has Romance or Latin origins.

Cultural Diversity

Spain's cultural diversity, with both regional and international influences, can be seen in the many traditional styles of folk music and dance: jota, copla, fandango, paso doble, Muñeira, and of course the emblematic flamenco of Andalusia.

The paseo. The paseo (literally ‘the walk’) is a ritual renowned throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Before dinner, Spaniards are accustomed to strolling outside, either in the streets or even along the seaside promenades.

Education:

In Spain, primary and secondary education is compulsory and free for all children aged between 6 and 16. At the end of secondary education, pupils are awarded a school-leaving certificate and can go on to higher education if they wish.

The Spanish education system is characterised by two major features: its strong decentralisation, due to the country's administrative organisation, and the large proportion of private, denominational education.

The two best-known musical genres in Spain are flamenco and Celtic music, although Spain has many other musical styles and dances in its continental and insular regions.

Castanets, the most widespread and popular instrument in Spain, play only a secondary role in Portuguese music.

Flamenco is a specific musical genre that originated with the gypsies of Spain, in the same way that jazz in the United States originated with African-Americans. And like jazz, it's a creative genre that has been constantly evolving since its birth.
