Step 5:

Write up Summary, Conclusions, & Limitations of the Study:

What do the research findings of your study tell us about the issue you chose to address and the practical implications of your findings (Conclusion Section of the Final Paper) (discipline specific knowledge/skills, scientific processes, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, GCP synthesis). Describe the limitations of your study (Conclusion Section of the Final Paper) (discipline specific knowledge/skills, scientific processes, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, GCP synthesis). Make suggestions for future research that is needed to address the issue at local and global scales (Conclusion Section of the Final Paper) (discipline specific knowledge/skills, scientific processes, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, GCP synthesis).

Step 6:

Assemble a Multi-Media Presentation:

Each Team will assemble and present a final presentation of their research in a professional multi-media format, such as a PowerPoint or Prezi. You will share your research with an audience of your peers (your classmates) as if you were resenting at a professional social science conference. The final grade will be based on the quality of your presentation - which includes visuals and a supporting slide show w/ key bullets. Please do NOT read your slides. Use them as prompts to help guide your professional "conversation" with the audience.

Step 3:

Human Subjects, Research Methods & Design

Each Team will collect original primary data to address this topic. Teams will describe at length and detail the steps in the research design and why these steps are appropriate to address your research question. Additionally, in this section, each Team will have a dedicated description of research ethics, human subjects protections as specified as part of the USF Internal Review Board (IRB) process and assurances.

Step 1:

Specify the Research Question:

Notice that this Step is divided into two parts: 1a DRAFT Research Question & 1b FINAL Research Question. Each Team will come to a consensus on a research question and submit it in the form of a Primary Objective / Specific Aims Statement. To get started each member of the Team will carefully review and learn about the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Describe the importance and global significance of your research question (citing information you have gathered from reports referenced on the UN Sustainable Development Goals Website and/or other relevant publications in the social sciences). Describe the importance of addressing this issue at a local level (discipline specific knowledge/skills, scientific processes, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, scientific processes, GCP self-awareness).

Step 2:

Assemble a Literature Review:

Students will explore the scientific literature and assemble a robust summary literature review related to your Team's research question. As part of the process of conducting a literature review, you will assemble a bibliographic reference list of all relevant research reviewed for the project. The reference list must follow a standard format, such as ASA or APA (as determined by your professor).

Step 4:

Data Analysis and Empirical Findings:

Using appropriate data analytic techniques, Teams will test their research hypotheses and discuss key findings using appropriate verbal descriptions, charts/graphs/statistics, and/or visual representations (Findings Section of the Final Paper) (discipline specific knowledge/skills, scientific processes, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, GCP synthesis).
