The Confederacy was made up of 11 states that seceded from the United States

Another word for the United States. During the Civil War it the Union was considered the anti-slavery states.

The border states were slave states that remained in the Union during the American Civil War. The border states were Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky, Missouri, and West Virginia.

Slave states were mad that Abraham Lincoln a Northerner won the Presidential Election. They were worried that he would ban slavery in the South.
