NASCITA DEL MERCANTILISMO

Sistema di politica economica (detto anche sistema mercantile o mercantilista) tipico delle grandi monarchie assolute del Seicento e del Settecento, le quali miravano ad accrescere la ricchezza e la potenza dello stato attraverso interventi nell'economia.

TRATta degli schiavi

I primi mercanti di schiavi neri furono i Portoghesi.In America, i schiavi lavoravano nelle piantagioni e nelle miniere, senza nessun pagamento. Inizialmente venivano catturati dai negrieri, in seguito furono venduti in cambio di beni europei.

Una volta arrivati in Europa, venivano venduti all'asta.Almeno 10 milioni di africani sono stati deportati, causando una catstrofe demografica ed economica per l'Africa.

Nel frattempo l'Italia... (fine '500 inizio '600)

L'Italia entra in crisi economic perche produce merci fin troppo care (lana), quindi subisce la concorrenza delle merci straniere ( stoffe inglesi e olandesi).

Il '600 è caratterizzato dalla crisi finanziaria delle Spagna, dato l'artigianato in decadenza e le produzioni agricole insufficienti

L'Europa fu colpita da epidemie e carestie, che causarono un calo demografico l'Italia perse un terzo della popolazione (1600-1650)

Dalla America veniva importato il metallo prezioso; -Serviva a pagare le importazioni di grano, altre merci. -le spese militari -organizzare eserciti

Cause del calo demografico

1. terreni impoveriti, popolazione già indebolita.2. crisi economica, sociale e sanitaria

Le miniere americane si esaurirono e la Spagna entrò in un periodo di crisi economica.

Il '600

Guerra dei trent'anni 1618-1648

Il conflitto iniziò in Boemia per motivi religiosi, terminò nel 1648 con la Pace di Vestfalia che ridisegnò gli equlibri europei.

-fine delle guerre di religione in Europa. -indipendenza della Svizzera e Province Unite. -Ascesa della Francia, nuova grande potenza.
