HELLO!

Welcome to our interactive game to test your capability in developing a response strategy based on the concepts of the Cone of Response.

Setting the Scene

A vessel was in transit when it experienced a sudden engine failure. This resulted in a loss of steering control, causing the vessel to run aground. A breach in the vessel's bunker tank resulted in Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) releasing into the surrounding water. Location of incident was approximately 2.5 km offshore of the Saipan Terminal (15°13'49.32"N; 145°42'35.49"E). Initial modelling done showed the oil headed Southeast towards the Saipan Terminal. EM has therefore stepped in to coordinate the response to protect EM’s reputation and asset. RRT has been activated to provide the necessary support.

Activity 1: Sensitivities Mapping

Game Instructions
Identify and map the sensitive areas that could be impacted by the spill. Just drag the icons on the "Sensitivities menu" (left) onto the map. *You can refer to pgs 443 - 452 of Saipan Terminal FRP for information on environmental sensitivities in the area.
