Innovations in design: Foldable smartphones appear, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, which allow more flexibility in design and functionality.5G: The fifth generation network begins to be implemented, providing much faster mobile internet speeds and more efficient connectivity. Camera technology: Cameras have become one of the main features of smartphones. Cameras with multiple lenses and 4K/8K recording capability are commonplace. Artificial Intelligence: AI is being used to personalise the user experience, optimise battery performance, improve photography and enhance device security. Sustainability: With the growing concern for the environment, some brands are adopting more sustainable practices, such as the use of recyclable materials and buy-back and recycling policies.
2000
2000-2005: The evolution of mobile phones brought features such as cameras, polyphonic ringtones and small colour screens. The Nokia 3210 and 3310 are examples of very popular models during this phase. 2007: Apple launches the iPhone, revolutionising the market. The iPhone was the first device to integrate a capacitive touchscreen, without a physical keyboard. The touchscreen interface and the App Store were significant innovations that changed the way we use mobile phones. 2008: Google's Android operating system was launched, increasing competition in the smartphone market and accelerating the transition to smarter devices.
The first commercial mobile phone, the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, was launched. This device weighed around 1kg and had a talk time of just 30 minutes. It was a bulky model with a large aerial and cost around 3,500 dollars
1992: Nokia launched the 1011, one of the first mobile phones. This technology enabled clearer calls and expanded coverage. 1993: The first flip phones and more compact models appeared. Brands such as Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson and Siemens dominated the market. During the 1990s, the mobile phone came to be seen as a mass consumer item. Models such as the Nokia 5110, launched in 1998, became popular and were known for their durability and long battery life
2010-2015: Smartphones dominate the market with operating systems such as iOS and Android. Screens become larger, cameras improve significantly, and new features appear, such as facial recognition, fingerprint sensors and greater integration with social networks.
