What to see and do
Brandenburg Gate
Berlin Wall & East Side Gallery
A historic remnant of the Cold War
The iconic symbol of Berlin and German unity.
At 1316 metres long, the open-air art gallery on the banks of the Spree in Friedrichshain is the longest continuous section of the Berlin Wall still in existence. Immediately after the wall came down on 9 November 1989, 118 artists from 21 countries began painting the East Side Gallery, and it officially opened as an open air gallery on 28 September 1990. Just over a year later, it was given protected memorial status.
The Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's most famous landmark and a must-see for all visitors. A symbol of German division during the Cold War, it is now a national symbol of peace and unity. The Brandenburg Gate is one of Berlin's most important monuments, a landmark and symbol with over two hundred years of history
Reichstag Building
Holocaust Memorial
Germany’s parliament with a stunning glass dome and city views.
A powerful tribute to Holocaust victims.
For many years the monumental construction didn’t serve the purpose for which it was built, but since the German reunification it is once again the seat of parliament. After a massive restoration by architect Norman Foster, the famous glass dome offers a stunning 360 degree view of the city. A column of mirrors casts light into the parliament’s assembly hall.
The Holocaust Memorial is a striking site in Berlin, consisting of 2,711 concrete slabs arranged in a grid. Designed by architect Peter Eisenman, it creates a maze-like experience, symbolizing loss and remembrance. Beneath the memorial, a museum shares personal stories of Holocaust victims.
