The Australian Aborigines are indigenous peoples of Australia who, before the arrival of the colonisers in Australia, lived in the best regions for agriculture in small nomadic tribes, living by hunting, fishing and gathering.

Aboriginal

There are about 500 different tribes of Aborigines.

Many Aboriginal people live near cities, while many live in tribes in desert areas of Australia or the Outback.

Outback

Outback refers to the desert. The outback is referred to as "the red heart of Australia", or "the Red Centre", because of the iron-rich and therefore reddish soil. For 90%, Australian land is not arable due to the aridity of the soil typical of the outback. Despite this, there are many aquifers in the Australian subsoil.

Uluru

The Uluṟu is a rocky massif in the centre of Australia, the most imposing and highest in the hinterland that the colonisers called the outback.

Māori

The Māori are a population, living mainly in New Zealand. Maori are famous for their face and body tattoos and it is the most important tradition of this people. Also typical is the Haka dance.
