Sandro Botticelli, nome artístico de Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi, nascido a 21 de março de 1445, foi um dos pintores mais importantes do Renascimento italiano, especialmente na escola florentina. Natural de Florença, vindo de uma família de classe média, Botticelli destacou-se na sua época, sendo considerado um dos maiores mestres da pintura renascentista. Ao longo da sua trajetória artística, esteve sob a proteção de diversos mecenas, com destaque para a poderosa família Médici, cujo apoio foi crucial para o florescimento das artes e da cultura na cidade.
