The nurse shpuld provide emotional support to the child and the family, encourage peer contant, pain management (ATI,2024).

LOW GRADE FEVER PALLOR INCREASED BRUSING AND PETECHIAE LISTLESSNESS ENLARGED LIVER, LYMPH NODES & JOINTS ABDOMINAL, LEG, & JOINT PAIN HEADACHE VOMMITTING & ANOREXIA UNSTEADY GAIT MANIFESTATIONS OF ICP

MEDICATIONS:

• CHEMOTHERAPY
• The agents used is dependant on the type of leukemia, age, and whether the leukic cells are found in cerebrospinal fluid (ATI,2024).

LEUKEMIA: The term for a group of malignancies that affect the bone marrow and lymphatic system. It is most prevalent in children between the ages of 2 and 5 years (ATI,2024). Leukemia is classifised into two different groups depending on the type of WBCs that becomes neoplastic (ATI,2024).
