Mare Nostrum est un projet entre le latin avec Mme Swyngedauw et l'anglais avec Mme Denizard. La problématique à résoudre au terme de ces deux ans est : comment les Romains ont influencé la Grande-Bretagne. Dans ce diaporama, nous présenterons quelques exemples d'influences romaines sur la culture et les croyances en Grande-Bretagne.La présence romaine en Grande-Bretagne a laissé des traces profondes, de l'architecture aux croyances, en passant par les langues et les traditions.

Halloween

En Angleterre, Halloween est une fête très attendue, particulièrement par les enfants. Elle a lieu chaque année le 31 octobre et est marquée par diverses traditions et activités.Trick-or-Treating: C'est une tradition où les enfants vont de porte en porte en disant "Trick or treat!" pour demander des bonbons. Certains aliments spécifiques sont consommés à cette période, comme le "toffee apple" (pomme enrobée de caramel),le nom viens de « all-hallows eve » qui signifie fete de tous les sains il fait référence au lémuria,les vampires de l’antiquité s’appelaient les striges, on peut s’en protégé en mettant une branche d’eubefinesur le rebord de la fenêtre,

Noël / saturnales

Noël est la version moderne des Saturnales, fêtes romaines honorant Saturne en décembre. Les Saturnales incluaient des banquets, des échanges de cadeaux et des inversions de rôles sociaux. Les décorations de guirlandes et les vêtements colorés participaient à l'atmosphère festive. Leur popularité et leur impact culturel ont inspiré certaines traditions de Noël actuelles.

À l’époque des Romains, les routes en Angleterre, c’était très important.Les romains avait construit des routes complexe,elle était construites pour que les soldats, les marchands et les messagers puissent se déplacer vite et efficacement. Elles étaient solides et reliaient les grandes villes comme Londinium (Londres) ou Eboracum (York)

Aujourd’hui, certaines de ces routes sont encore utilisées. Elles ont été intégrées dans le réseau routier moderne, comme la Watling Street, qui suit toujours le tracé romain. D’autres sont devenues des sentiers de randonné ou ont disparu sous les champs, mais les archéologues les traquent encore grâce à des vieilles cartes et des fouilles.
