The Basics
Hotend/Toolhead
The Hotend and Toolhead of most FDM 3d printers is responsible for heating up and extruding out the material. Commonly, this part has a nozzle which heats up to around 200 degrees celsius, while there are gears which push the filament into the nozzle and control the flow of material.
Printbed
The printbed is a vital piece of the 3D printer to understand. This is where the hot filament is laid out in patterns and allowed to cool and adhere. A good printbed keeps your prints attached, and does not vary in temperature!
Motors are attached to the 3D printer in order to control the movement of either the toolhead or the printbed. These motors are very precise and are controlled by a gcode file that you create!
