At Pax Lodge I saw the miles sign to show the other four World Centres and had to take a photo…
Travelling to Ghana
As I started my trip, I still could not believe I was actually on my way to what would be my fifth and final World Centre.
Opening ceremony!
Each participant stood by their country flag as we heard speeches and songs from the Kusafiri World Centre team.
WAGGGS Leadership Model
The theme of this year’s JLS was peace: Peace with Others - Peace in Action - Peace with Me
Presenting
WAGGGS Sessions
We did a lot of activities about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which, with my International Development degree, was of huge interest to me!
Community Day
The highlight of the day for me was talking with the Queen Mothers, similar to community leaders back at home, about how they help their local community. We talked about issues facing women e.g. domestic violence and pregnancy.
WAGGGS International Night
I loved getting to try things from across the globe. We had over 30 different countries represented at Kusafiri from all the WAGGGS regions, so the variety of things people brought with them was fascinating!
Closing ceremony
I will never forget the memories and new friends made at Kusafiri through JLS.
Reflections
Everything about this JLS experience has been incredible, and I would not have even applied if it had not been for my local South West England region team telling me to grab the opportunity… I am really excited now to get started properly on my 100 Girls Project, which is a challenge based on educating 100 12-18 year olds about the WAGGGS Leadership Model and peacebuilding.
