Press the “Create Comix” Button to get started.

Here is where you will start creating your comic strip.

2. Naming Your Comix

Fill in a name for your comic strip in the “NAME YOUR COMIX” box.

Next, put the name of the person who is creating the comic strip in the “AUTHOR’S NAME” box.

3. Choosing the Number of Panels (2 slides)

Choose the number of panels you want 1, 2, 3 or more from above the first panel.

You can have up to 18 panels.

Select the first panel, it will be outlined in red.

Note: you can only work on a panel if you select it first.

You will know it is selected by the red outline around it.

4. Choosing a Background Color

You may want to choose a background color for your panel. You can find the background colors in the main menu below the frames.

Click on a color then click on the panel where you want to place it.

5. Choosing a Character (2 slides)

Scroll through the numerous characters.

Once you select the character you want, several poses will pop up.

Choose the pose you want, click the selection window...

...and it will appear in the panel.

6. Choosing an Animal friend

Scroll through the row of animal characters if you want to add one to your comix.

7. Choosing Backgrounds and Objects (2 slides)

If you click on “Backgrounds” and “Objects”, you can select from various background scenes and objects to use in your panel.

Here is an example of an animal, object, and a scene added to our comix.

HINT

Do not use a scene if you want to use a background color, as it will not show up. For example:

8. Moving a Selection

To move a selection once inside the panel, click the red “move” cross, then click on the object you want to move.

You will then be able to move it around.

9. Flipping a Selection

To Flip a selection, select the “flip” button, then click on the object you want to face the opposite direction.

10. Adding a Second Character

To add another character in the same panel, select the character and double click on it. Before After

11. Scaling a Character

To change the size of a character, click the “scale” button and a slide bar will appear. Slide the scale to size your character as you wish.

12. Bring to Front

To bring a selection to the front, select the “bring to front” button, then click on the selection you want in front.

13. Deleting a Selection and Starting Over

To delete a selection, select the “delete” button and click on the selected item you want to delete. Note: Start over will erase the whole panel. Before After

14. Adding Talk and Thought Balloons (4 pages)

You may add either talk or thought balloons to help your characters communicate. The thought balloons have little bubbles underneath them; they let the reader know what the character is thinking.

Choose the size of your balloon and it will appear in the selection window. You can choose different balloons by using the blue scrolling bar under the selection window.

Once you see the one you want, click on the panel you are going to use it in.

Click inside the balloon and text will appear.

Delete the text, then you can add your own.

You may have to move your balloon to place it where you want it.

15. Panel Prompts

There are also prompts in the balloon panel. Click on the prompt you want, wait until it is in the selection window, then click on the panel where you want it placed.

Select a Different Panel

To select another panel, click on it. A red outline will appear around the panel to be worked on next.

16. Printing or Emailing Your Comix

You can update your Comix anytime.

You can also print or email your comic strip, simply click the icon.

You can either print or email your comix from this screen.

You will be taken to this screen.

  • You are now ready to create your own imaginative comic strip.
  • Remember to check your spelling and grammar before you print or email your comic strip.
  • You may use the Table of Contents and the icon to revisit any part of this tutorial you may need to review.
