TIMELINE PREHISTORY
Starts with the aparition of the humans, the live in the paleolitic
during which tools made from cut stone were used. It is the longest phase of man’s history (99% of it). The term means Age of the Ancient Stone. This long stage of man as a scavenger, harvester, and hunter is called the Paleolithic age
PALEOLITIC
Some 10,000 years ago, man`s way of life began to change. The most significant change with respect to the Paleolithic stage was his conversion to being a farmer and shepherd. The new activities (agricultura and livestock farming) made men sedentary. So they settled in stable villages. The Neolithic age originated in the Middle East in a place between the Tigris and Euphrates river, called Mesopotamia. The term Mesopotamia means “Between rivers” in Greek. Later, it extended to other parts of the planet.
NEOLITIC
The Metal Ages began about 6,000 years ago. During the Metal Ages people started using metals, like copper, tin, bronze and iron, to make tools and weapons. They heated and shaped the metals in hot furnaces. People often used precious metals, like gold and silver, to make jewellery. With all these changes, people’s lives became easier. Villages and towns also became bigger and more prosperous. In time, people started building the first cities. The Metal Age is divided into three stages: the Copper Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
