This so-called 'weird' era was a time where anime lovers, video gamers, and many others made it their duty to share it with the world! During this time, LGBT minors began expressing their sexualities openly, while others felt it was a great way to show off their creativity through drawings, outfits, and makeup designs! The downside is that, during this time, users on the app would fake mental illnesses or disabilities, commonly depression or autism, leading to this era being extremely detrimental to teens and young adults due to mass cyberbullying.

Welcome to TikTok! A fresh new app that merged with Musical.ly to create a super popular and fun platform! During this time, while many users adapted quickly by creating new dances, lip-syncing, food and makeup challenges, some were quite upset about the change. Hashtags like #BringBackMusically still trend to this day.

The COVID epidempic..

The era of dance, rising aesthetics, and good vibes! Just like in 2018, 2019 TikTok was full of music, new dances almost every week, and the rise of emerging artists. But then, things took an unexpected turn… for the better? In 2020, the year of COVID-19, everything changed. Students were told they’d be out of school for two weeks, which ended up being much longer. During this time, students were stress-free, creating content with various filters, and gradually began expressing their creativity

The so called "TikTok" ban

In 2020, it was said that TikTok was going to be banned, but that never happened. This year, the same thing was said, and this time, it actually did! Since 2024, users have been hearing that our current president was planning to ban the app. When it finally happened, chaos broke out! How would small businesses on TikTok make money? What would popular content creators do? On January 19th, the app went dark for 12 hours, then suddenly came back. Surely, there’s more to this, right?

During 2023 through 2024, it was kind of just... nothing. People were still doing dances, making music, creating silly memes and funny videos, but oddly, no one can really remember what happened. It was all fun and games until December, around New Year's, with a threat from a certain president..
