Mulan soon began the rigorous training to become one of the Emperor’s elite soldiers. Combat was easy for her, as her muscles were used to years of sparring with her father. Her feet were swift, and her aim was sharp. Her fellow soldiers were in awe of her skill and talent but she was too nervous to try to become friends with them. She wielded her sword like no one else for miles around. Her fear of being discovered as a girl disappeared as she became known as the best and most fearless fighter in the army. Soon they marched off to war, and death and destruction was all around. At first, Mulan was very lonely because she was afraid to make friends in case her secret was revealed. She spoke little and kept her head down, not causing any fuss. But eventually, she befriended a kind soldier named Wei. He came from a small village, too, and they often joked and laughed together about their old lives. place where she could be true to herself, with a friend who accepted her completely.

Soon the pair became inseparable, fighting side by side. When Mulan was made General, she made Wei her second-in-command. Even the fiercest warriors needed someone to stand beside them. They fought valiantly in each battle and led the armies to success after success. Finally, the war was won and victory belonged to the Emperor. The Emperor’s victory was a triumph for the whole nation, but for Mulan, the true victory was finding a friend in Wei, and in herself. She had discovered a place where she could be true to herself, with a friend who accepted her completely.
