In Spain, the legislature is the parliament, called the Cortes Generales. It represents the Spanish people. This branch has the power to pass laws and to control the government
The executive is the government. This branch is responsible for all policies and decisions.
The judiciary is the system of courts and tribunals. This branch is concerned with the administration of justice.

THE SPANISH CONSTITUTION
A political party is a group of people who share the same ideas about how to run a country. Each policital party publishes a manifesto before an election. The amifesto explains how the party intends to improve the lives of the people.
A constitution is a set of rules that all te people and the government must follow to ensure everyone is treated fairly. On 6th of December 1978, the Constituion was passed by a moyority vote in a referendum.
WHY IS THE SPANISH CONSTITUTION IMPORTANT?
The Constitution of 1978 established: -the rights and responsibilities of all citizens -the roles of the insitutions of Spain -the territorial organisation of Spain -the Tribunal Constitutional

-attend school -respect the laws -pay taxes -take care of the environment -take care of the elderly

-have access to education -be free from degrading treatment -receive health care -protect our privacy -express our opinions
A minority is a group of people of a certain race, religion, language or nationality who live in a country where the majority of the population belong to a different race, religion, language or nationality
TAXES ARE IMPORTANT: taxes are money we pay to the government. all responsible citizens pay taxes. Taxes are used to :-pay public services like education, health care and public transport -pay for scientific research that benefits everyone -pay grant to students -provide help for unemployed people

The Spanish government is the executive. The government is made up of: -PRESIDENT: he or she is elected by the members of the Congreso de los Diputados. The president leads the government -The ministers, they are choosen by the president and are responsible for different areas such as: Education, Healthy...
Spain is a parliamentary monarchy. the king or queen is the head of State. The monarch's powers are controlled by the Cortes Generales and the Spanish government. The monarch doesn't govern. Their role is to represent Spain abroad. The monarch is also the head of the armed forces. The reigning monarch is King Felipe VI and his daughter, Pricess Leonor

THE COURTS AND TRIBUNALS
THE CORTES GENERALES
The Cortes Generales are the legislature. They are made up of two chambers: -the Congreso de los Diputados -the Senado The Cortes Generales pass laws, approve the goverment's budget and control the Spanish government. The Congreso de los Diputados also elects the president of the Spanish government.
The Courts and tribunals are the judiciary. They are made up of judges and magistrates. They enforce the law and judge poeple who break the law. The highest court in Spain is the Tribunal Supremo.
