2-Meter Line
A red-marked line 2 meters from the goal; attacking players cannot remain inside this area unless they have possession of the ball.
5-Meter Line
A yellow-marked line 5 meters from the goal; fouls committed here can result in penalty throws, and players can take direct shots after a foul outside this zone.
Goalline
A boundery that marks the end of the field. And the line between the goalposts that marks the boundary where a goal is scored if the ball fully crosses it.
Swim-Off
The race at the start of each period where players swim from their goal line to gain possession of the ball at the center of the pool.
Penalty Throw
A free shot taken from the 5-meter line after a major foul, with only the goalkeeper defending.
Exclusion Area
The designated zone where a player must wait after receiving an exclusion foul. The player can re-enter after 20 seconds, a goal is scored, or their team regains possession.
Goalkeeper Zone
The area where the goalkeeper is allowed to touch the ball with two hands and move beyond the goal line.
Sideline
The boundary lines along the length of the pool. If the ball crosses the sideline, possession is awarded to the opposing team with a free throw.
Corner Throw
A restart awarded when the defending team last touches the ball before it crosses the goal line, taken from the 2-meter line.
Changing Zone
The designated area where players can substitute during live play without stopping the game.
