Structure of the verb: HAVE/HAS + past participle of the main verb

Affirmative sentences

Subject + HAVE/HAS + past participle + complements Examples: We have walked 8km today. She has visited her parents this morning.

negative sentences

Subject + HAVE/HAS + NOT + past participle + complements (haven't / hasn't) Examples: We haven't walked 8km today. She hasn't visited her parents this morning.

interrogative sentences

(question word) + HAVE/HAS + subject + past participle + complements + ? Examples: Has she visited her parents this morning? How long have we walked today?

uses of the present perfect: 1

The present perfect is used to describe an action or situation that started in the past and it continues in the present. Example: 'I have lived in this house all my live'

uses of the present perfect: 2

We use this tense when we want to talk about a finished action but an unfinisshed time expression.

Example: This month I've been to the cinema twice.

uses of the present perfect: 3

The present perfect is also used for a repeated action without a specific time expression.

Example: They have travelled to Paris several times..

uses of the present perfect: 4

The present perfect is used when we are talking about our experience (in life) up to the present. The expressions 'ever' and 'never' are fequently used in this case. Example: 'Have you ever tried bungee jumping?' 'No, I have never liked risky sports.'

It is used to describe recent events without a definite time. Or to say that something happened very recently. In this case, we can use 'just' in affirmative sentences.

Example: He has just passed the exam, so he is very happy.

It is used to say that something happened earlier than expected.

Affirmative sentences

The position of 'already' is between the two parts of the verb. Example: 'It's 5 o'clock and he has already done all his homework.'

YET

'Yet' is an adverb that means 'until now'. It can be used in negative sentences and in questions. The position of 'yet' is at the end of the sentence.

Used in questions to ask if something we are expecting has happened. Example: 'Have you finished your homework yet?'
Used in negative sentences to say that something we are expecting has not happened. Example: 'She hasn't arrived yet.'
