Books can be returned: - in person- through other persons

Where to return borrowed books?

Books returned at:- Circulation Desk- Selfcheck Kiosksare immediately taken off the reader's account

Circulation Desk

Return Box

Books returned to the Return Box are taken out every hour by the staff of the Circulation Desk during their working hours. Only then books are taken off the readers' accounts!

Fines and blocks

Failure to return books and readers by the due date results in the reader's account being blocked. In this case you can't:

  • borrow
  • renew
  • request new copies

A fine is being charged:

  • 0,40 PLN per each day past the due date per each copy
  • 1 PLN per each day past the due date of a Kindle reader

Please note! You will only see the amount of the fine charged once all the overdue copies have been returned!

The fine can be paid:

  • at the Circulation Desk
  • on a Selfcheck
  • via a bank transfer:

All copies that can be borrowed are marked with the status "Do wypożyczenia" ("Possible to borrow")

Interested in Kindle readers? Ask about them at the Circulation Desk!

These are the books labeled with a blue, yellow or white sticker

Books from the Closed Stacks (Magazyn) with the status "Do wypożyczenia" can be requested to the Circulation Desk or Pick-up Locker.

Return Box

It's available 24/7!

Here you can return books borrowed from BUW: the Open Stacks, Textbook Collection and Closed Stacks

Books from the Return Box are taken out every hour by the staff of the Circulation Desk. The last time they are taken out is one hour before the Circulation Desk closes.

Please note! Only books borrowed from BUW can be returned to the return box. Kindle readers and books from faculty libraries should not be returned here.

Selfcheck Kiosks

The Selfchecks are available during the opening hours of the Library.

Here you can:

  • borrow books from the Open Stacks and the Textbook Collection,
  • return books,
  • renew the due date,
  • pay fines

Circulation Desk

Here you can:

  • borrow: Kindle readers, books from the Open Stacks and the Textbook Collection,
  • pick up: reserved books and books requested from the Closed Stacks,
  • return books and Kindle readers,
  • renew the due date,
  • pay fines

The Circulation Desk is open: Monday – Saturday 9 am – 9 pm

Copies that can't be borrowed are labeles with the status "Na miejscu" ("On site")

Use these materials only on the library premises

This copy can be only requested to the Reading Room and used on its prenmises only.

Pick-up Locker

Here you can pick up books requested from the Closed Stacks.

The Pick-up Locker is available 24/7
