The Pinnipeds
- Called earless seals, phocids, or true seals, they are very round, very bouncy and very cute;
- There are 18 True Seal species, the Caribbean Monk seal went extinct in 1952;
- Adult phocids vary from 1.17 m in length and 45 kg in weight in the ringed seal to 5.8 m and 4,000 kg in the southern elephant seal;

The Pinnipeds
- Walruses, very large Pinnipeds with large tusks and glorious mustaches, they have thick skin with a lot of blubber, their lips are human-like;
- There's only 1 Walrus species the Walrus;
- Classified as a Vulnerable species by the IUCN;
- Males can grow between 2.7 to 3.6 m, and weigh nearly 2,000kg;

- Males have this weird red sack in their noses, they inflate it to impress females;
- Classified as vulnerable by the IUCN, there are 340,000 mature individuals alive;
- Adult males are 2.6 meters long on average, can grow to 3.5 m, and weigh between 300–410 kg.

- The most popular species of seal, especially in Japan, they are also the smallest, they have little spots and rings on their bodies this is how they distinguish each other;
- Classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN, there are 1,500,000 mature individuals alive;
- Adult males are on average 1.5m long and weigh on between 50–70 kg.

- These seals have beutiful white stripes in their bodies, males have air internal airsacs that produce noises to atract females, their babys are the very popular white pups;
- Classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN, there are 183,000 mature individuals alive;
- Adult ribbon seals of both sexes measure an average 1.6m (maximum 1.9m) in length, and weigh an average 70-80kg.

- The closest cousin to the ribbon seal, their babys are so popular that you can't find that many pictures of adults, the babys are also white and fluffy;
- Classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN, there are 4,500,000 mature individuals alive;
- Adult males 1.5-2 m in length and weigh an average of 130 kg.

- Dinosaur-like, this is the most predatory seal, despite it's bad reputation these seal are in reality pretty calm, they also make very interesting noises;
- Classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN, there are 18,000 mature individuals alive;
- The overall length of adults is 2.4–3.5 m and their weight is in the range 200 to 600 kg.

- Closely related to Leopard Seals, these seal have the most interesting teeth of all;
- Classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN, there are 4,000,000 mature individuals alive;
- Adult seals grow to an average length of 2.3 m and an average weight of around 200 kg.

Southern elephant seal
- By far the largest pinniped, males are very territorial and agressive, its also the deepest diving seal, and the 2 deepest diving mammal (2000m), can hold their breath for nealy 2 hours;
- Classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN, there are 325,000 mature individuals alive;
- Males have been measured to be 5.8 m and weight 4,000 kg, very chonky indeed.

Mediterranean monk seal
- The only seal species in Portugal, females take care of their babies for about 7 weeks the longest of any seal;
- Classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN, there are 444-600 mature individuals alive;
- they are on average 2.4 m in length and weigh 250-300 kg
