LET'S PLAY

I live with you from spring to autumn and usually travel to Africa in winter. I like to be in anopen surrounding, near fields and woods. I usually walk on the ground, picking up insects,seeds, worms or ants with my long, thin and curved beak. I shine in unique colours; Wings and tail with white and black stripes over a brown body. Oh, and I have a very high crest, which can I raise and lower. I build my nest in old tree holes (almond and carob trees, etc.) or in the walls of abandoned farmhouses. When you hear my song, you will certainly know who I am. I sing on the ground, again and again, and it sounds as if I were saying my name.
