Cloakrooms & self-service lockers
Coats? Luggage?
Before entering BUW, please leave your coat/jacket in one of the cloakrooms. You can enter the Library with a bag or a backpack (max dimentions: 40x30x15 cm). Bigger bags shall be left in the self-service lockers.
Self-service lockers
How do self-service lockers work?
- You can borrow and return the locker key at the security desk at the main entrance during the Library opening hours.
- Locker keys can be borrowed for 24 hours.
- It is not possible to extend the deadline for returning the key or to make a reservation.
When entering and exiting BUW...
scan your library card/student ID or the QR code available on your reader's account
card and QR code readers at the security post
Bringing in/out books from BUW?
- If you enter BUW with books that you have borrowed from us before and do not yet intended to return,
please report this to the security staff at the entrance to the Library. You may be asked to fill in a short form (valid only on the day of issue).
- When borrowing, remember to collect your confirmation!
- If the magnetic gate beeps when you leave the Library, show security your borrowing confirmation or the form with the books you took out. If a book borrowed from BUW is beeping, return to the Circulation Desk and, on the basis of the confirmation, ask for the book to be decoded again or try to return it yourself and borrow it again on a Selfcheck.
You don’t like it when someone's eating next to you in the library, do you?

Food, drinks, dangerous objects?
You can bring a sealed bottle of water to BUW.
Do not bring food or other drinks (e.g. coffee) into the Library.
You are not allowed to bring in dangerous items (firearms, knives, gas throwers, etc.).
You like it when it's quiet and you can focus in BUW, don’t you?
Others like it too.
Keep quiet
especially in reading rooms and study booths
Using your phone
At BUW, turn off the sound on your phone and other electronic devices. Do not talk on the telephone on Library premises. If you want to make a call, go outside (e.g. to Level 0).
Use BUW collections responsibly

You like it when the book you're reading at BUW is clean and in good condition, don’t you?
You like it when you can easily find the book you're looking for in BUW because it's not relocated, don’t you?
Others like it too.
Keep your work and leisure areas tidy
You don’t like it when there's litter lying around, do you?
Others don't like it either.
You don’t like it when you stumble over charger cables or unattended bags, do you?
Others, especially visually impaired, don’t like it either.
Do not rearrange the equipment
Others don't like it either.
You don’t like it when someone rearranges or takes your stuff, do you?
You like it when the beanbags and sofas in BUW are clean and in place, ready to use, don’t you?
Others like it too.
Don't leave your belongings unattended!

Finished using the resources from the Open Stacks? Put them on the designated library carts.
Cloakroom 1 (closer to Lipowa Street) is open 24/7 during the academic year.
Cloakroom 2 (behind the café) is open from 8am to 10pm and 24 hours a day during exam sessions.
- do not underline text,
- do not unfold books with the spine upwards,
- if you are photocopying our material do not press the unfolded book against the glass of the copier (this can damage the stitching or the gluing of the spine).
