LITTLE ROBOT'S BIG ADVENTURE
DESPINA EVGENI
In a small, quiet town surrounded by green hills, there was a workshop filled with tools, wires, and gadgets of every kind. It belonged to an inventor named Mr. Anders, who loved creating machines that made life easier. His latest invention was a little robot named Spark. Spark wasn’t like any ordinary robot. He was small, shiny, and powered by an unusual big blue crystal that pulsed like a heartbeat
Spark was designed to help around the workshop, but he had a curious mind and a big dream. He longed to see the world beyond the workshop walls. Every night, as Mr. Anders slept, Spark gazed out of the window, imagining what lay beyond the hills. One day, Mr. Anders accidentally left the workshop door open. Spark’s curiosity sparked brighter than ever. With a mix of excitement and nervousness, he rolled outside on his tiny wheels. The sunlight was warm, and the air was filled with the scent of flowers.
As Spark ventured further, he met a group of children playing by a stream. At first, they were startled to see the little robot. But soon, their curiosity matched Spark’s. “What are you?” a boy named Leo asked. “I’m Spark,” the robot replied. “I’m exploring the world.” The children were fascinated. They showed Spark how to skip stones across the water and introduced him to the sound of birds chirping. Spark recorded each moment in his memory, his crystal glowing brighter with every new experience.
As Spark’s journey continued, he found himself in a forest. It was darker and quieter than the sunny fields he had just left. Suddenly, he heard a sound. A tiny squirrel appeared. Spark noticed the squirrel’s tail was caught in a tangle of thorny vines. “Don’t worry,” Spark said softly. Using the small tools built into his arms, he carefully freed the squirrel. The grateful animal chattered happily and ran off. Spark felt something new—a warm, fulfilling sensation that wasn’t programmed into him.
Later that night, as Spark rested under a starlit sky, he realized he had made friends and helped someone for the first time. It made his crystal glow even brighter. “This is what living feels like,” he thought.
The next morning, Spark arrived at a bustling village. The townspeople were curious but wary of the little robot. One elderly woman named Greta approached him. “You’re not from around here, are you?” she asked. “No, I’m exploring,” Spark replied.Greta smiled. “We could use a helper like you. The town clock has been broken for weeks, and no one knows how to fix it.” Spark followed Greta to the tall clock tower. Inside, the gears were rusty, and the mechanisms were jammed. Spark analyzed the problem and using his tools and a bit of creativity, he repaired the clock. When the bell chimed at noon, the villagers cheered.“You’ve brought life back to our village,” Greta said. Spark felt that warm sensation again.
Though he loved helping, Spark began to miss Mr. Anders and the workshop. He realized that his adventures had taught him more about the world—and himself—than he ever imagined. With a bittersweet farewell to his new friends, Spark rolled back home. When Spark returned, Mr. Anders was so happy. “Where have you been?” he exclaimed.“I’ve seen streams, forests, and villages,” Spark said, his crystal glowing brightly. “I’ve made friends and helped others. I’ve learned so much!”Mr. Anders smiled. “You’ve done something no robot has ever done—you’ve found a purpose.”
