Phase IV
IT System Inspection
Miles IT’ IT System Inspection focuses on nine (9) specific areas. These areas are outlined below with additional details for each category.
The Miles Assurance Plan
A Miles Assurance Plan, commonly referred to as the MAP, is a Miles IT solution offering that provides a suite of services to meet both IT operational and IT security requirements for an organization. One of the many amazing aspects of the Miles Assurance Plan is that support is UNLIMITED and 24/7. Therefore, our goals truly align with yours. We want your team to stay productive instead of dealing with IT issues. This is why much of our work that you never hear about happens in the background. Every day we are performing work proactively to help prevent your staff from having to call with another distracting, productivity-draining issue.
Phase III
Deployment of Antivirus, Spam Filtering, Web Filtering, and Patch Updates
Miles IT will perform the following actions as additional security measures to protect your IT infrastructure.
- Antivirus software managed by a previous provider or not managed in a central location will be removed. CrowdStrike Prevent next-gen antivirus will be deployed to all workstations and servers in the environment.
- If there is no SPAM filter in-place, Miles IT’ Barracuda SPAM filtering solution will be deployed.
- OpenDNS web filtering will be deployed at each location to prohibit users and viruses from navigating to malicious websites. An OpenDNS agent will be installed to protect workstations in the same manner while outside of the office.
- Initial Windows Updates will be pushed and installed onto workstations and servers via our Miles Agent. Agents will be configured to push the latest patches during an identified maintenance window. This will keep systems up-to-date to protect against any vulnerabilities that may exist.
More Information About These Items
- Quantity changes will adjust the monthly cost up or down.
- The initial billing will be based on the quantities you provided during our initial consultation. Once agents are deployed, quantities will be adjusted to be the actual counts.

Service Rollout & Technology Analysis Process
Every customer that moves to a Miles IT managed service plan begins with an “service rollout and technology analysis” project. This is regardless of how IT support is currently being performed. The implementation project is designed to make a smooth transition to the Miles IT managed services. The method of takeover depends on the situation at hand as there are three basic scenarios:
Regardless of the manner of implementation, each project is completed following a 5-Phase onboarding process. Based on individual situations, the order of this process may vary, but all steps are required to complete the onboarding process and will include the following.
Inform, Prepare, Takeover
- This option assumes an amicable relationship exists between the departing IT provider/personnel and the organization. This plan involves informing the existing IT team in advance of stopping their support services. This allows Miles IT to utilize them as an information resource before providing support services to end users. This is the most seamless of transition options. The timeline will be based on multiple factors including the size of the infrastructure, current concerns regarding support services, etc.
Prepare, Takeover, Inform
- If concerns exist about the reaction to the decision to change support providers, this may be a better transition option. The first step is to covertly gather information regarding the environment prior to the actual takeover. This information gathering would be done without the assistance of the existing provider. On a predetermined date, a lockdown will be executed removing the former provider/personnel, at which point they can be informed of the transition decision. After the takeover, information gathering will continue to occur as some information cannot be collected until we are accessing the systems.
Immediate Takeover
- At times it may be necessary to perform an immediate takeover. For example, if the former provider/personnel is no longer available to provide support, IT support will need to be provided by Miles IT. In this situation, support will begin immediately and any lockdown steps will be handled throughout the onboarding process.
Dedicated, Industry-Aligned Team
Phase I
Network Lockdown
A network lockdown is performed to ensure that all IT Systems are properly secured after IT responsibilities have been transferred from one organization to another. A thorough network lockdown is performed as follows.
- An audit will be performed to confirm dependencies for services or tasks, and all domain administrator account passwords will be reset.
- Account credentials for the domain registrar will be reset, and the former IT Solutions Company will be removed as an entity with permitted access. Miles IT will replace the former company as the entity with permitted access.
- Any 3rd party identified services will have credentials reset (conditions permitting.) Additionally, all unauthorized entities will be removed, and Miles IT will be added as an authorized entity.
- All network equipment, public-facing or otherwise, will have passwords updated and any ACL (Access Control Lists) will be updated to include only Miles IT IP address space. When necessary, any existing IP address space will be removed.
- Milesvision Agents will be deployed, and all remote access software (i.e., GoToMyPC, TeamViewer, LogMeIn, etc.) will be sought out and either removed or reset, depending on current employee usage.
24/7 Unlimited Remote and Onsite Support
Adds / Moves / Changes
Phase V
Systems Review and Recommendations
Miles IT will perform an in-depth review of all IT Systems currently in place. The goal of this phase is to analyze how your systems have been performing and make recommendations that will ensure optimal system configuration, higher efficiency, and increased stability. Systems Review results will be presented in an executive summary, which will outline high-level information on all items reviewed and uncovered. This includes overall results of the current system, its top five positive attributes, and the five main areas that require attention. Additionally, each section of your report will include a thorough analysis of each area. Each area-specific analysis will include a detailed summary, an overall score, and a list of all items that require attention, with a priority level and recommendation for each.
24/7 Monitoring, Proactive IT
Phase II
Agent Rollout & Information Gathering
Phase II will be performed either during or after the network lockdown. Miles IT will install lightweight, secure agents on each covered machine. These agents allow the Miles IT team to gather information on the machine and quickly access computers experiencing issues. These agents are also used to monitor the availability and performance of all systems. Agent installation is silent and will not interfere with the user.
- Agents will continue to be rolled out on the network for existing equipment (servers, workstations, laptops, etc.)
- Storage Appliances (SAN/NAS) will have credentials reset as needed, and will have configuration thoroughly documented.
- The network will be mapped out and thoroughly documented. Detailed specifications for each piece of equipment will be identified and recorded.
- Inventory of installed software will be performed.
- Devices will be tagged for asset control. All equipment will either be tagged electronically through the agent rollout or with a physical asset tag.
