Otomycosis: Actions

Please note: this is for guidance only, and you should always rely on your clinical judgement to ensure your patients receive appropriate care and treatment.

1. Advise water precautions – keep the ear as dry as possible 2. Send a remote review to Tympahealth for a second opinion/advice from the clinical team. 3. Refer them to the GP or prescribing pharmacist, providing the patient with the images and videos taken using your Tympahealth device (VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE GP KNOWS THAT THIS IS A FUNGAL INFECTION, NOT BACTERIAL.

Outside normal limits of hearing

Typically, individuals suffering from otomycosis may experience difficulties with their hearing. Consequently, their hearing check results are likely to fall outside the range considered normal (with points below the 25dB threshold).
