Memories of our Homelands
PART A: We see groups of people from different countries moving to a new land!
The Greek story written by the Greek group & illustrated by the French group
Patra 1
We exercise a lot and we love playing sports. There are a lot of sports centres. We all have a bike because we love cycling!
We are the Sporty People! We are fit, thin and strong! We are healthy because we always eat healthy food (vegetables, fruit, chicken, salad, meat, fish, lemonade, eggs, cereal, milk).
Patra 2
However, we haven't got a lot of money! There aren't a lot of jobs in our community so we all have a meeting. We decide to go to another land to get good jobs. We can make money and help our families in our homeland!
Patra 3
Time has come for us to leave our homeland. We are very sad because we all leave our friends and relatives. We feel anxiety and fear about what we will meet in the place we will go.
We have thoughts about how difficult it will be to start our life from the beginning!
Patra 4
We are ready to leave! We take some clothes, our phones, some money, some medicine, some food for the journey, some family photos, our documents and a home souvenir!
The Spanish story written by the Spanish group & illustrated by the Italian group from class 1F
Ceuta, Spain 1
Our town is small but very beautiful. It has wonderful views. It has got a big park where people meet and it has got a beautiful beach to go for a walk. We are happy.
We are hardworking people. We love cooking delicious and healthy meals. We love the place we live
Ceuta, Spain 2
One day, people who governed the city started to do crazy things: They don't respect human rights. They don't respect equality, justice... We started to be poor and it was hard to visit doctors or to go to hospitals. In the school, we don't receive quality education.
Ceuta, Spain 3
There isn't peace because people started to fight. We aren't happy, we feel sad and worried for the new situation. We decided to move to a better place.
Ceuta, Spain 4
We know that going to another place to have a better life is going to be hard but it is the best option. We took our pets, some money, relevant documents and some important memories, some photos... The bag cannot be so heavy because the journey is going to be long.
Ceuta, Spain 5
The new land seems to be nice, we can breath fresh air. Although we are nervous, sad and worried, we feel happy at the same time because we have an opportunity to live a better life.
The French story written by the French group & illustrated by the Italian group (1B)
We are the Creative People ! We love drawing and painting. We like reading and listening to music. We listen to hip-hop, and rap music. We like going to the museums (like the Mucem, in Marseille) and visiting exhibitions. We like going to the cinema. We play music : we play the piano, the guitar and the drums. We cook crêpes, cakes and waffles. We do DIY. We do pottery and paper planes. We write poems or rap texts. We create posters like « Keep Calm » posters and we create posters against bullying, racism…
We are different. We have original clothes. We love colours. We have blue aprons. In our place, there are workshops. There are parks with plants and trees. There are rainbows. In the street, there is street art and in the houses there are paintings like “The Mona Lisa” on the walls.
One day, racist people arrive. They destroy our beautiful homeland. Life is now too expensive. We decide to leave. We need equality for people. We need new inspiration. We need less pollution.

ITALY 1B 1
We are the Felix People ! The community where we live is called Felix and is made up of 100 people who live near the Mediterranean coast. Every day we get up, have breakfast and take the bus to get to the farm.
At one o' clock we have a lunch break and continue to work until 5 pm. Then we take the bus back home. Life goes on day by day.
ITALY 1B 2
One day, however, while the sun is about to rise and the people are still sleeping, a storm breaks out. The people get up very scared because their windows are open and the water goes into their house. Aften 1 hour the people run away because the water is about to cover them as well as their houses.
ITALY 1B 3
Our community feels different feelings, including sadness for the people who have died or are missing. Seeing everything destroyed, we feel helpless and can’t understand how to help others and ourselves.
ITALY 1B 4
We are worried the storm could happen again, we have never seen something so disastrous. We have little time to decide what to take with us to the new land. We will bring our phone, money and a pot with the seeds of our favorite foods and plants inside. We call our cat Nino, put him in a bag and take him away with us.
ITALY 1B 5
The next day we are about to leave with our families when a storm breaks out again. We run as far away as possible. We are in tears but we accept it and move to a new land. We feel a bit lost but we hope we will make new friends.

ITALY 1F 1
We are the Peaceful People. We live in a peaceful and happy town. Citizens help each other and keep the town very clean. The territory is very fertile, suitable for cultivation. It’s full of animals. Between us citizens we help each other and there are never fights.

ITALY 1F 2
For many months it doesn't rain. The fields and rivers dry up because of the dry climate, so there isn’t water or food to survive. Despite the farmers’ work, the harvest doesn't grow. So the people go with the last supplies and the last surviving animals, because the rest of the animals die as a consequence of the lack of food.
ITALY 1F 3
After the drought hits our village all is disappearing. We are losing everything, except for some animals and little food. We want to escape.
We walk a lot and for the entire journey we are tired and hungry.
ITALY 1F 4
We are sad to leave, but anyway we feel safe again. After a lot of time we arrive in a new place with a very fertile land. There are a lot of cultivations. We see many children running happily in the fields.
PART B: Arriving in their new land! Meeting each other for the first time!
Arrival Day 1 (by Greece)
We finally arrive in a village. There are waterfalls and taverns, a beautiful river with a playground near it and some squares. This village is near a big town, Armadil. We can find jobs in the big city! All the groups meet here and talk about their life in their homeland. They like each other! They also meet some local people.
-Hello! What are you doing in our village? -We want to find a job and a home. Can you host us for some time? -How many are you? -About 100 people. -You are a lot of people! We can't host you. But you can sleep in the school tonight! The young people are tired and they go to the school to spend the night. They are not very happy!
Arrival Day 1 (by Greece)
Day 2 (by France)
The second day, the young people wake up in the school. They talk and they decide to leave because they don't feel accepted in this village. They go to the forest and they find a big place to stay and create a camp for everyone. There is a field in the middle of the forest and lots of different trees. The river is here too. It's ok for 100 people !
They use the skills of each group : The Sporty people cut wood and they build treehouses in the trees and wooden houses in the field. The Peaceful people imagine bridges to connect them and organize things with calm.
Day 2 (by France)
The Creative people decorate the rooms in the houses and they put colours everywhere. The Felix people pick up fruit in the forest to eat and imagine how to grow food in the field and fish in the river.
Day 2 (by France)
Everybody is happy to be together and to have a nice beautiful new home. They chat, they laugh, they build things together. At the end of the day, they have workshops, they have wooden tables and chairs. They have food to share. They like sharing ! They feel happier !
Day 3 (by Spain)
The next day, we met to orgaize important issues. Man: - It is important to create spaces for children. -Yes, children have to be happy so it is nice to have our own school in the camp. Woman: -We have a lot of wood so let's start to create a school. Woman 2-But, we need a person who wants to teach children. Man 2- I was a teacher in my old town. It would be great to be able to continue teaching. I love my job. Woman-That is excellent, you will be the teacher in the new school. Man-Let's start, we have a lot of work to do. All people, parents and children were really grateful and happy. Education is really important.
Day 4 (by Italy 1B)
On day 4 the children wake up and have breakfast all together. At the table they start talking asking questions like “Where do you come from? What do you eat for breakfast in your country? What do you usually do during the day?” The Felix group replies: “We eat sweet focaccias for breakfast. Every day we wake up around 6:30 am and get ready to go to school. We go to school and finish at around 2:00 pm. As soon as school is over, we go home with our friends. As soon as we get home we usually eat potato gnocchi and rest. Around 3:00 pm we do our homework. At 4:30 pm we start getting ready to do sports. At 6:00 pm we come back from sports and go home. We wash and have dinner all together. At around 9:00 pm we go to bed.” After finishing breakfast, the guys all go and play together in the river. As soon as it's lunchtime they return home and they all eat the freshly caught fish together. When they finish lunch, they go back to building houses, sports centres and finally they start building a huge hospital for everyone! They finish building just before dinner time. They go back to playing and having fun all together. As soon as they finish dinner, they play cards and go to sleep around 11pm.
Day 5 (by Italy 1F)
In this beautiful land local people are peaceful and help each other. We live in the nature: rivers are full of fresh water, frogs and fish. It’s great to see cows, sheep, pigs, deer and rabbits running around the green fields. Yesterday morning we wanted to make a cake, so we went to the forest looking for wild berries. While we were picking then in a bush, we found a mysterious, small box.
