How to Teach Unit :3

Overview

In unit three your child will learn to use common double consonant digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to make one sound.

Lesson Activity Instructions

Each lesson has a fun activity to keep your kiddos playing while they read. These activities are designed to be fun for kids and easy for you. You won’t need to cut or laminate a thing. Just pull some fun toys or snacks out of the cupboard and start playing to read.

(Note: If you don’t have exactly what we used for our activity, you can easily substitute for something you do have on

hand. We’ll often offer suggestions to help with this.)

help your toy cross the pond.

LESSONS 4 & 5 - Word Baseball Place a flat marble, ball mini eraser or Cheerio on the baseballs. As you read the blend and

the ladders.LESSON 9 & 10 - Word HockeyPlace a button or Cheerio on the puck below the first word or blend in each row. Bend the top of a bendable straw or bend over the top inch of a pipe cleaner to create a As you read the first blend or word use your “hockey stick” to pass the puck to the next word. After you read that word, shoot the puck into the goal.
