Why we chose this film?

We chose Up for our presentation because the up teaches us to live in the present, value the people around us and realize that the truth of life is not only in achieving our goals, but in building and living moments of connection and friendship.

What the film is about and what the history?

Up: Highly is an American animated film of the comedy-drama and adventure genres. Up tells the story of Carl Fredricksen, a widower who, to fulfill the dream he and his wife Ellie had, decides to tie balloons to his house and travel to South America. During the trip, he ends up accidentally taking the young scout Russell. Together, they face adventures and dangers, and Carl learns to overcome his grief, rediscover the value of friendship, and realize that true adventure lies in the experiences he has along the way.

A little bit about the Carl and Ellie

When Carl was a child, he was very shy and passionate about adventure, inspired by explorer Charles Muntz. During his childhood he meets Ellie, a girl full of energy who shares the dream of exploring the world and visiting the mysterious Paradise of Waterfalls, located in South America. The two grow up together, fall in love and get married. Despite trying to fulfill their dream of going to Waterfall Paradise , they face financial difficulties and life challenges. Carl and Ellie also discover that they cant have children, but they remain together. As the years pass, Ellie falls ill and dies, leaving Carl alone and trapped with precious memories in his home.
