Known as Kathy Switzer, born January 5, 1947 in Amberg, Germany, is an American marathon runner, writer and television commentator. She is best known for being the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as a registered participant, in 1967.

She entered in the competition under a false name. When one of the organizers, Jock Semple, realized that she's a woman, he tried to ripping of his number shouting "Get out of my way and give me those numbers!".But she was able to finish the race with a time of around 4 hours and 20 minutes.
