Waking up early in the morning to go to your 7 a.m. class can be difficult. You might prefer to stay in bed and listen to music, watch TikTok videos or go back to sleep. However, education can play a major role for you to achieve your dreams. Have you ever thought about the people who are involved in your education? There is a great number of people involved: parents, teachers, teacher’s assistants, tutors, school consultants, etc. We should not forget that the most important person in your education is you because nobody else knows yourself better than you. You know if you feel more comfortable studying in the morning or at night; if you prefer to read long pieces of information or if you prefer to break the information into pieces and make mind maps and diagrams that can help you understand the information. Therefore, you are in charge of being successful at school.

Practical advice When you are in your last semesters you have lots of homework and projects. You often don’t know how to deal with all your assignments and deadlines. So, you should first believe in yourself; this is extremely important to achieve anything you want in life. Then you should set clear goals, for example: to graduate, to write the essay by Saturday night, to learn the new vocabulary, etc. Having clear goals will help you track your progress. A very important thing to consider when setting goals is that you should not set unrealistic goals. For example: to read a book in one day, to learn all the information from the last six months over the weekend, to write an essay in tirty minutes, etc. If you set unrealistic goals, you won’t achieve them, and you will feel frustrated.

Once you have set clear and realistic goals, you should write a detailed plan on how to achieve your goals. The best thing you can do when you can’t design a plan is to ask your teachers, parents, tutors, or instructors for help. You should understand that you are not alone and that there is always an adult to guide and support you.

Why are study skills important? Having good study skills will help you succeed in life. Good study skills can increase your confidence, competence, and self-esteem. They can also help you reduce anxiety about tests and deadlines.
