Los jugadores comienzan con una ficha -que los representa- en la casilla inicial y tiran el dado por turnos. Las fichas se mueven según la numeración del tablero, en orden ascendente. Si, al final de una jugada, un jugador cae en una casilla donde comienza una escalera, sube por ella hasta la casilla donde termina, Si, por el contrario, cae en una casilla donde comienza la cola de una serpiente, baja por ella hasta la casilla donde termina su cabeza. Si un jugador cae en una casilla donde no tiene serpiente ni escalera; debe contar la emoción de acuerdo a la ilustración que está marcada en esa casilla. El resto de los compañeros debemos escuchar con atención y reflexionar para opinar que pudimos haber hecho en su caso.
Si el jugador cae en la parte inferior de una escalera, sube al cuadrado superior donde termina la escalera..
