History
Guy Fawkes Night has its origins in the events on 5 November 1605. A group of English Catholics, leader by Guy Fawkes, planned to blow up Parliament to assassinate the Protestant King James I. Known as the Gunpowder Plot, was discovered and the conspirators were arrested. From that year on, it was decreed by law to celebrate this day every November 5th. With time, the celebration evolved to include bonfires and fireworks, becoming a deeply rooted tradition in British culture.
