Sheldon Cooper, uma criança prodígio de 9 anos com uma mente única em uma geração capaz de avançar na matemática e na ciência. Embora fosse reconhecido academicamente, Sheldon não possui uma compreensão completa de pistas e comportamentos sociais, além de um senso de superioridade sobre todos ao seu redor devido à sua inteligência. Sheldon é propenso a percorrer seu próprio caminho, mesmo que ele tenha problemas ao longo do caminho. No entanto, Sheldon provou amar sua família e quase sempre tem o coração no sitio certo.

O desenvolvimento da série começou em novembro de 2016, a ideia original foi de Parsons que repassou para os produtores de The Big Bang Theory. Começou a ir ao ar em 2 de novembro de 2017, logo após de The Big Bang Theory, após uma apresentação especial em 25 de setembro de 2017.
