The secret agent

Mr Verloc is the main character of the novel. He follows the anarchist movement and with manipulation, he enrols Stevie in his activities.

Stevie is Verloc’s wife brother, who is gonna be involved in his brother in law’s activities.He is mentaly instable, but he is described as a "delicate" and good looking character.He is easily moved by the pain and suffering he sees around him. But this compassion often turns into rage.He is quite easy to convince and follows blindly the Verloc's words.

  • Mr. Verloc walks to an embassy, and meets one of his superiors, Mr. Vladimir.Vladimir tells him to ensure that a bomb attack is carried out on the Greenwich Observatory.
  • Verloc takes Stevie out to the country, saying to Winnie that it will help calm the boy's nerves.
  • In reality, though, Verloc does this because he plans on using Stevie to commit the bombing of the Greenwich Observatory.
  • Verloc travels out to the country to pick up Stevie, and the two of them ride the train to Greenwich Park, where Verloc hands Stevie the bomb
