The People’s Release is a series of screenings independently organized by individuals and cinemas who align with the film's values and message. Discussions are a key part of any People’s Release screening and have been a major drawcard so far. Our aim is not just to release our film, but to provide a focus, even if just for one evening, around how we help to build a better world, locally, nationally, and internationally. These panels have featured SA High Commissioner to the UK, Kingsley Mamabolo, Gaynor Legal, Chair of Trustees for Tiger Bay & The World as well as many of the London Recruits, who are keen to join local screenings and talk about their experiences.

The People's Release
Kingsley Mamabolo, South African High Commissioner to the UK
"Every time you watch it, you still find it intriguing. It's touching. It's a story of heroism seeing people fighting in the manner in which they did in a struggle that was not theirs"
Former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki
"The intervention of the London Recruits was very important because it essentially made it possible for the masses of the people to continue to believe that their movement exists"
"We found the film, London Recruits to be inspirational and informative in that it uses what is essentially an adventure film, to tell the story of activism and what taking a stand against racism can mean"
Gaynor Legall, Chair of Trustees at The Heritage & Cultural Exchange

TESTIMONIALS
It was a mixture of the tragedy and situation as well as the inspiration of the people who put so much on the line.
It just kept making me think all the way through of Palestine and the parallels.
I really really enjoyed the film. It's far better than I was expecting. I've read the London Recruits book but this really brought it to life in a way that I couldn't imagine.
It was absolutely brilliant. It's a brilliant portrayal of what international solidarity and internationalism and the global movement can do. Very proud to be a young communist member.
I thought it was great, it was really powerful. I was born in the 90s and I'm shamefully unaware of a lot of apartheid, paricularly the details of it. Really eye-openeing and really inspiring to do more.
It told me soemthing about the campaign against apartheid that I knew nothing about, even though I was active on the ground here that was a revelation. I thought it was a brilliant film, very well produced.
