Sadness comfort Bing Bong and emotional validates his feelings. This is important because it demosta tes empathy and allowing someone to feel grief.
Dialogue
Joy realizing Riley needs Sadness was a huge moment as she realizes that sadness can offer healing and connection. This scene also recognizes that avoiding these "negative" behaviors can hinder emotional growth.
Wideshots such as showing the different islands and the memory headquarters of Riley's mind gives a visual representation of the abstract concepts like personality and memories. This scene really encapsulates the transitions between the personality islands to the memory attached to that island.
Shots, angles, and transitions
Inside out does a wonderful job of changing the angles for instance in this scene we get a close up of Rilye's face as she struggles to process her moving, drawing the viewer in and allowing them to feel her emotions. When is pans out to the class we feel her embarassment just as we would outselves
I LOVE this soundtrack. There are so many moments where the music and sound effects help reflect the emotional moment and elevate the scene. The very first scene is a test to that. A personal favorite is where Joy and Sadness are running from Jangle, the scary clown!
Soundtrack and Design
The colors of each of the emotions and their orbs shows increbile thought has been put into designing of the characters. The regular orbs are bright but not as luminous and bright as core memories. Showing the significance these memories have within us.
New Learnings
Inside out taught us that our emotions work interdependently to help us navigate life, like Sadness and Joy are not opposites but work together to form meanigful connections and processess experiences. The depiction of memory recall and the concept of core memories made completely abstract concepts tangible and accessible to learn about for anyone of any age. Finally, Riley's journey shows the importance of embracing all of lifes emotions, even sadness, to foster growth and emotional resilience.
Enhancing my own Digital Story
By using a relatable narrative like Inside Out, my story is one that kids will be able to relate to. Having a dynamic story that incoporates different visuals or transitions, would capture the attention of many different viewersI think the biggest takeway from this is, including a better audio track that is clear and soundeffects that emphasize the narrative.
