Codice morale che unisce i membri della famiglia mafiosa; usato per giustificare comportamenti violenti e illegali. Omertà → legata al concetto di onore → rifiuto di collaborare con la giustizia (denunciare un altro mafioso è visto come un atto di disonore e vigliaccheria).

This hypocrisy manifests in several ways: 1-Blood oaths: Mafia initiation rituals often involve sacred symbols, such as crosses or saints, stripping them of their spiritual meaning. 2-Ritual killings and vendettas: The Mafia shows no hesitation in killing innocents, including women and children, in the name of a supposed "justice" based on revenge and control. 3-Destruction of the community: Through extortion, corruption, and violence, the Mafia dismantles the social fabric, completely disregarding collective well-being.
