Aquila Theatre- One of the largest theatres in Italy, designed by Cosimo Morelli, it was inaugurated in 1790. It has five tiers of about 1,000. Worth seeing is the ceiling painting by LuigiCochetti depicting the Gods of olympus with the Graces and the Hours and in the centre, the 56-arm glided iron chandelier.
Vic Library of Fermo is located in Palazzo degli Studi, connected to Palazzo dei Priori through an adorable Renaissance loggia.Palazzo Degli Studi was project by architect Girolamo Rainaldi with a great monumental facade in bricks, today covered by a yellow-ochre plastering that makes The building uniform. On the ground floor the ancient portico was transformed in a series of compartments that houses today the section of the Civic Library dedicated to younger people
The Cavalcata dell’assunta in Fermo, of which the earliest historie references dates back to 1182 is an historical re-enactment that takes place in the evening of 14 August and in the afternoon of 15 August in Fermo’s streets. In its more modern Ten contrade Take part to it and each of them has a Priore as leader and it’s characterized by its own colours and by a coat of arms, shield with the Contrada’s motto and a symbol recalling its history and features.
The most ancient and famous room of the Fermo Civic art Gallery is surely the Globe Room , located in Palazzo dei Priori. Formerly Know as comedies Room, it was built by the wish of Fermo cardinal Decio Azzolino , in order to house the aristocratic Paolo Ruffo’s bequest and it was made by Adamo Sacripante, an architect from Fermo.
Built at the end of the fourteenth century from union of two previous building from 1396 it was the seat of the collegio de Priori. The current facade is due to a rearrangement at the end of the 1500s when the statue of Pope Sixtus V was placed in the centre of the double staircase. Today it is the seat of the museum centre of the citv.
The loggia of St. Rocco was built in 1528 as a vow against the plague by Fermo noble Gian Francesco Rosati in front of the church of St. Rocco, built in 150 Today the chuch has nearly disappeared due to subsequent renovations, while the loggia still has traces of the frescoes that formerly decorated It.
