She has two different academic awards for her performace at the University of León and her PhD was awarded cum laude and won the extraordinary PhD award from the University of Salamanca.
Sara graduated in Biotechnology in 2012 and completed a Master's degree in Biomedical and Biological Research in 2013, both from the University of León. In 2018, she obtained her PhD in Molecular Biology of Cancer and Translational Research from the University of Salamanca.
Since 2019, Sara has worked as an advanced biomedical scientist at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) leading a project on experimental oncology and drug discovery. In 2021, she participated in a 6-month executive program on venture from science and technology with the IE Business School in Madrid. She is also working as a volunteer, collaborating with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, and as an organizer of several scientific workshops and conferences for academics and the public.
Sara García Alonso was born in 1989 in Spain, León. She is a researcher, molecular biologist and astronaut.
